Principles of Interaction Design (IxD) and Visual Design

  1. Required: Excerpts from Lidwell et al.'s book Universal Principles of Design related to visual design (link).

  2. Required: What's New in iOS User Interface Design talk from Apple's WWDC 2013 (link). I suggest downloading locally to your hard drive to watch. Though the reading assignment this week has no reading response, please take note of the design principles that the speakers emphasize as you watch the video (including, for example, simplicity, using a grid system, hierarchy, use of a simple, consistent color palette).

  3. Optional: Excerpts from Lidwell et al.'s book Universal Principles of Design related to IxD principles (link)--a good part of this reading should reinforce IxD principles from previous readings in the course (e.g., from Rogers et al., Dix et al., and Norman).

No Reading Response

There is no reading response for this assignment; however, content from this reading assignment will be on the next quiz. In addition, the readings and the video will help you craft a better design for your final projects.
